I can’t believe that this is my very first beauty post here on my blog. And not just because I was a make-up artist for years but also because I consider myself a beauty junkie and could talk about products all day long! Shamelessly many a cheque has been spent trying to find those Holy grails! For my own make-up though, I like to focus on my complexion. I’ve been struggling with hormonal acne for the last 6 years that has annoyingly left a bit of scarring.

So when applying make-up I do like to focus on getting my skin to look clear and healthy. This is why I love trying out new foundations. I actually found out about Canadian brand ‘The Ordinary’ through Instagram last month and waited a whole 24 hours before popping into their newly launched Covent Garden store. I left with quite a few of their award wining skincare products along with their high coverage foundation in the shade 2.0YG.

Honestly the first time I applied the foundation, I didn’t really like it! The colour was good, the coverage great but the finish was a bit flat. And because I’m so used to foundations having a ‘glow’, a ‘velvety finish’ or something that makes it more than just… well… a colour, I found that mixing it with my Becca shimmering skin perfector i’ve had a complete change of my mind. It’s now earned a place on my everyday makeup shelf and it really doesn’t hurt that it’s only £5! I think it’s more of a medium coverage so if you have blemishes then it should do the trick, but the great thing is that you can build up the coverage you want without the fear of it looking cakey. If you like more of a lighter coverage you can easily mix it with your serum/moisturiser. I will definitely be taking this on my travels to Asia next month as the bottle itself is amazingly convenient for travelling. It’s lightweight and has little chance of spillage as the pump closes when you twist it.

Moving on to my bronzer; I like to warm up my skin and Bobbi Brown’s compact in the shade ‘golden light’  does just that. I gently sweep it in the hollows of my cheekbones, along my jawline and along my hairline.

For concealer, I find myself reaching for ones with high coverage these days. It wasn’t till I started taking photos of myself for my blog earlier this year, that I noticed how dark my under eyes actually are! I’ve been using Estee Lauder’s doublewear concealer for years on clients because it really does stay put all day. For my lips I tend to wear neutral pinky, nude tones. Its not that I’m afraid of colour I love a good red lip but on a day-to-day basis I like to wear a colour thats easy to rub off. This is for a variety of reasons but mostly because i’m lazy with reapplying through out the day. Tom Ford’s lipstick in the shade ’07 Pink Dusk’ has been a firm staple in my makeup bag for years. It applies like a creamy dream which is great for my dry lips and the packaging OMGGG is just divine. Yes its a tad bit on the expensive side but my lips are worth it!

Last but certainly not least is my Anastasia Beverly Hill’s dip brow pomade which i use in the shade ‘medium brown’. I use this with Mac’s 208 angled brow brush to define my uneven brows. Its actually lasted over 2 years now and for me is a product I consider a Holy grail. It totally changed my brow game and I cannot recommend it enough.

I could go on and on all day about these products and actually I did, but then edited this post down so it won’t bore you! I hope you found it insightful and I can’t wait to share more beauty finds with you here on the blog.
